NEWS : Jonathan leaves for Mandela's memorial service

President Goodluck Jonathan will to leave Abuja on Monday evening to join other world leaders at events leading to the burial of former South African president Nelson Mandela.
This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by Jonathan's special adviser on media and publicity, Dr Reuben Abati.
The statement stated that the Jonathan would be accompanied on the visit by the supervising Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof Viola Onwuliri.
It said that Jonathan would also attend the memorial service for Mandela on Tuesday at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
''The president will, in the company of other heads of state and government, pay his last respect to Mandela at the apartheid hero's lying-in-state on Wednesday at the Union Building, Pretoria."
The statement said at the end of the events in Pretoria on Wednesday, Jonathan would leave for Nairobi, Kenya, to honour a "long-standing invitation to be a guest of honour at Kenya's 50th Independence Anniversary celebration".
It said the president would return to Abuja on Thursday.
