Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, on Monday said, if he wanted to, he could contest for the presidency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, as he has what it takes to compete with President Muhammadu Buhari. He made this known while reacting to the statement of the APC National Leader, Ahmed Tinubu, about his exit from the ruling party. Tinubu: Saraki, Tambuwal defected because they can’t face Buhari in APC

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says Senate President Bukola Saraki and Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto, joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for automatic tickets. The former governor of Lagos state said both men were afraid to test the strength of their popularity in a primary election. Tinubu said if Saraki had remained in the APC, he would have been unable to reclaim his senate seat. He said the senate president has been more focused on changing the rules of the senate for selfish designs. The APC chieftain said Tambuwal has his eyes set on the presidency but “does not have the stomach” to face President Muhammadu Buhari, hence his defection.
